Many standard masonry block colors, shapes, textures, and sizes are available. Architectural cast stone is an architectural precast concrete building unit intended to simulate natural cut stone and used in unit masonry applications. Themoulds are arranged side by side on the platform. In this way the building goes up gradually, layer by layer, rowby row. Other than patching up cracks,
holes and damaged edges immediately after removing the formwork, no surfacetreatment is normally required.

Beale family through four generations. These units are often used in the bearing walls in homes or to strengthen frame structures. Precasting reduces construction time. Hiab can be arranged at additional cost. They can be sure everyone will be happy finding just what they want and being able to choose from the huge selection and variety available.
If it looks like stone and is a manufactured precast concrete product, then it must be cast stone, right?
It generally is specified for architectural panels, columns and large architectural elements and installed as a precast product as opposed to a masonry product.
Shapes are achieved by sawing or fracturing the stone, which has a fine grained texture. Calcium silicate masonry units are produced from sand and silica, which is mixed with hydrated lime and other elements. India, the system is a labour‐oriented precast process requiring little capital investment, very attractive to developing countries. Essais et résultats d’application sont décrits dans cet article. Cast stone is indeed a masonry product that provides architectural trim, ornamentation or functional features to buildings and other structures. It can match terra cotta or brick and makes a perfect substitute for brick shapes. There are substantial differences between cast stone and simulated stone. Gaps between stones or between stones and mould should be at least 15mm. The bottom face with theexposed stone texture forms the external face during construction. Different types of formworkare illustrated. Technical specifications, bulletins, details and related materials are available for free download from www.caststone.org. However, since it is so lightweight, it is extremely easy to install. If it’s a masonry substrate, assure it is structurally sound, clean, rough and capable of bond. Maintain appropriate clearance at the bottom of the wall. Assure stone units are set in a full setting bed of mortar. Some stones may be installed from the top, down, to avoid mortar dropping. Understand the colors, shapes, sizes and textures and blend them. Don’t install over an extremely smooth concrete surface without first making it rough. Don’t disregard clearance from grade requirements. For more information, visit www.caststone.org. Our standard cast stone blocks can be used to provide architectural trim, ornamentation or functional features to buildings and structures. For best practice, limit lengths of units to no more than 15 times their effective cross-section thickness. Prior to setting, insure climatic conditions are within thermal limitations of the mortar. Ensure that all specified flashing and dampproofing is installed. Flashing locations are the responsibility of the architect and should not be assumed by the mason under any circumstances. Concrete should never be poured against unprotected cast stone. Weep holes must be installed over windows, at relieving angles and at the bottom of walls. Cast stone should be handled in a way to minimize chipping. Handle stones with the wide portion of the cross section in the vertical position to minimize breakage. Chipped cast stone must be patched as the setting proceeds, because waiting too long can cause color problems with the patch. Do a test to make sure that the water repellent does not affect the color or texture when dry. Regardless of the degree of care exercised during construction, a final wash down will be needed. Extreme care should be taken when applying acidic cleaners to areas where joints are left open or where sealant is used as jointing material.
Acids left behind the stone on masonry wythe may cause corrosion problems later on. Cast stone is a time-tested material of enduring architectural beauty that, when properly selected and installed, should result in a project with durability exceeding 100 years.
To achieve satisfactoryresults, however, a series of field tests are essential. Mixing should take place closeto the block mould and all additives thoroughly blended in the dry state. Treatment of the bamboo isessential to avoid biological destruction. The widths of the boards correspond to the wallthickness, ie half, one, or one and a half brick length. Higher efficiency is alsoachieved by improving the layout of the work place. The bricks are placed on edge for the bricklayer to grip easily.

Bricks and mortar are continuouslysupplied from the other side by helpers. Reinforcing steel is placed in the vertical cavities and also filled withconcrete. Anybroken blocks can be remelted and recycled. The interlocking blocks arequickly assembled without mortar.
